In May 2019, Carlyle jointly acquired 6 Dawes Road with Slate Asset Management when the City was still in the early stages of the Main Street Planning Study.
The 2.9-acre strip of land is located in Danforth Village, a dynamic, multicultural neighbourhood in east Toronto, and directly adjacent to the Danforth Go rail station. Carlyle submitted a rezoning application in advance of Council’s approval of the study, resulting in several key amendments made to the plan including approval to create over 1,300+ new residential units across three high-rise condominium towers and a 17-storey rental building. The mixed-use development will help add vibrancy and life to the area by including a public park, a new municipal road, and an easement providing direct pedestrian access to the GO train station. Disposition for this development was completed in February 2022.
